The Three, Basic, Religious Assumptions
Reincarnation  //  Atheism  //  Christian One-life-ism
A Comparative Analysis

Page Summary

The intention of this website and this web page is to separate fact from fiction and to bring sanity into present-day, religious chaos.  This website places the beliefs of the three basic religious assumptions before the readers so that people may make more informed choices and to draw their own conclusions.

If you think your truth is the only truth,
you're in for a big shock and a rude awakening.
Here's a present-day, basic, Earth-plane truth:

Life is not what we've been led to believe it is by those who claim to know.

As a result, you, I, and everybody else have been (and still are) making critical,  irreversible, life-altering decisions based upon false, incomplete, and/or intentionally-deceptive information!

The following is a examination of the three basic assumptions of life, (Christian one-life-ism, Reincarnation, and Atheism) and how differently each influences and controls the lives of those who believe in them.

Reincarnation  //  Atheism  //  Christian One-life-ism

Below, you'll find a brief introduction to the three fundamental human beliefs.   Every one of us functions within one of these beliefs.   Even agnostics  (those who say that they don't know which one is correct) live within the context of one of the three beliefs.

Faith -- Belief Without Evidence:   There is no absolute irrefutable proof that one or another of these beliefs is correct.   A person who accepts one of these beliefs as true, must reject the other two and he or she must do so by what is referred to as "A Leap of Faith."   In other words, his/her belief is based upon something other than provable evidence.   Some believe things because they are written a book that is considered to be sacred.   Others believe because that's what they were told to believe when they were young children.

Each of the three basic beliefs is a powerful context --  a context that dominates all of the believer's activities.    We'll expand on these beliefs later.   For now, here are the definitions:

Reincarnation:   Those who believe in Reincarnation say that you and I and everybody else are all non-physical, multidimensional beings who always were and always will be.   Each of us is temporarily living in a human body.   When our body dies, we simply shift our consciousness into a non-physical reality.   As a multidimensional being, we may choose to come back to Earth again in another human body.

Atheism:   Atheists believe that humans are their physical bodies --  bodies that somehow magically acquired consciousness.   Before the person was conceived/born, he or she did not exist.   When the body dies, he or she will cease to exist.

Although atheism is the antithesis of what we call religion, it is included in this discussion because it's a core belief about the nature of what a human is, his origin, and his after-death fate/destination.

Christian One-life-ism:   According to this belief, every human was created by God at conception/birth.   Before the person was conceived/born, he or she did not exist.   When the body dies, he or she will go to heaven or hell forever.   An additional reference:

The Unknowable:   The only other possibility is that there is something else -- something that is unknown and unknowable to human consciousness   This is very unlikely, but non-the-less, we include it here as a possibility.

Mutual Exclusivity:   If the Christian beliefs are correct , then Atheism and Reincarnation must be false.   If Atheism is correct, then Christian one-life-ism and Reincarnation must be wrong.   If Reincarnation is correct, then, Atheism and Christian one-life-ism must both contain major errors.

You may think that their mutual exclusivity is unimportant to you, but are you correct?    You may be surprised when you find out what the evidence tells us.

First, consider the fact that hundreds of millions of humans have been murdered by people who adamantly believed in one of these three religious beliefs and strongly object to those who believe in either of the other two.   The murder's victims simply believed in a different religion.   Because at least two of the three, core/basic beliefs contain major errors, that means that hundreds of millions of people have died because the people who murdered them believed in un-provable fairytales about whatever it is we call "God."

"OK, that's history," you say.   Yes, it is history, but it's also present day reality.   Religious extremists are still engaging in mass murder, today.   Although the number of violent conflicts over limited amounts of land, water, and other resources is rapidly growing, disagreements based upon un-provable religious beliefs are still the major cause of violent deaths all over the world.   And where violence is committed over limited resources, the major division between the sides is very often based on religious beliefs.

Separating Fact from Fiction?

Unless the reason for life on Earth is totally unknowable, there are only these three possible answers to the Why-life-on-Earth? question -- Christian one-life-ism, reincarnation, and atheism.   In order to ardently follow any one of these three assumptions and deny the other two, the believer must take what, in religious circles, is called the leap of faith.   In every philosophical belief system, including atheism, there are fundamental, un-provable assumptions that, in the lack of evidence, must be accepted on faith.   We consider a belief that God does not exist as a religious belief.

Philosophers have debated for centuries about which of these three philosophical theories / assumptions is correct.   In a context in which present religious beliefs had their origin, there there was a strong need by those in political control to make up answers unanswerable questions.   Although the scientific evidence points very strongly in the direction of reincarnation, these three theories are still scientifically un-provable.   The beliefs about them have their foundations resting upon conjecture, speculation, assumptions, and guesswork.  In come cases, we have purely fictitious stories designed to manipulate others.

Another factor to consider is that adamant true believers in any of the major religions do not consider their religious beliefs to be beliefs.   They are held as irrefutable facts.   To subject their beliefs to thought, reason, or to an analysis of the evidence is considered as heresy, and in the fundamentalist Christian belief system, questioning ones religion is grounds for excommunication and condemnation to hell forever.

As a result of this closed-minded approach to religion, stories that were written by men who believed that the Earth was flat are still held by present-day religious fundamentalists as irrefutable facts.

For example, in the fundamentalist Christian belief system, God is a super-human being who lives in the sky,  Jesus was born of a virgin mother,  humans are inherently evil - born with original sin because a long-dead ancestor ate fruit from a forbidden tree,  and God murdered his son as a demonstration of love.

According to fundamentalist Islamic beliefs, those who die while in the process of murdering infidels, go to heaven where 26 virgins are there waiting to be deflowered.

Examples of Leaps of Faith:

A leap of faith means that a person believes something with no proof at all.   Each of the three assumptions, (Christian  one-life-ism, reincarnation, and atheism) has its own unique set of beliefs.   Because these beliefs are un-provable, the believers of each religion must accept its basic beliefs by a leap of faith.   Here are the basic beliefs of each assumption:

Christian  One-life-ism:

The basic fundamental assumption of Christianity is that the Christian Bible is correct, is complete, is accurate, and is the only sacred text that God ever wrote.   Believers assume that all the sacred texts of the other religions, such as the Koran, the Bahagavad Gita, the Vedas, the Book of Mormon, etc, are merely mythology or fairy tales and are not the word of God.   Christian believers assume that they were created as their bodies at the beginning of this earth life — that they live only once on Earth. and then go to heaven or hell forever.

Reincarnation:

Followers of the reincarnation religions think of themselves as non-physical, multi-dimensional beings whose existence began long before being born into their present physical body.   Reincarnationists believe that because they are spirit beings, they survive death of their physical bodies.   They also believe that they repeatedly return to Earth to live another life in another human body.

Atheism:

The atheists assume that they are only their body a body that somehow, acquired consciousness.   Atheists believe they ceases to exist when their body dies.

Billions Are Basing Their Lives on Illusions

Because each of these assumptions contains a major component that is in direct conflict with the other two, only one of them can possibly be an accurate representation of Earth-plane reality, and at least two of them must contain major false beliefs.   This means that significant pieces of two  of the Earth’s major religious philosophies must be fantasy creations products of the believer’s collective imaginations.

Because each of the assumptions has millions or billions of devotees, their mutual exclusivity leaves more than three billion people basing their lives on a fantasy illusions and living outside of objective reality.   A significant number of religious leaders support, promote, or endorse murder and mayhem against those who hold different assumptions.   All of this says that, on a global scale, and as a species, we’re in pretty bad shape.

Beliefs Are the Basic Foundations of Human Behavior

Each of the three basic assumptions gives very different answers to the question, “Why am I here on Earth?   Each of these three assumptions dictates its own response to the question:  “How do I live my life on planet earth?”   (We'll analyze the differences in a moment)   Every human being bases his or her life and his/her day-to-day actions on one or another of these three, root assumptions.   Many people simply do so unconsciously.  Even Agnostics (those who say they don't what to believe) follow the priniciples of one of the three assumptions.

Also, many people profess one belief, but practice another.   This is quite typical of politicians who profess a personal religious belief and then practice atheism and the worship of “The Great God Money” in their political or personal dealings.

Very Different Meanings

You have but to look out in the world to see that human behaviors vary dramatically.   The behavioral differences are strongly influenced by which one of the three religious assumptions the person believes in.   The significances and the consequences of their behavior also varies widely depending upon which of the three assumptions is the correct assumption.   For example, when you examine abortion and when you examine capital punishment in light of these three basic religious assumptions, some startling and very significant differences become obvious.

Before we look at these two examples, we need to start with an understanding of how each assumption views reality.   As you read these distinctions in the  Major Religious Distinctions Chart,  please keep the following three factors in mind:

1)   The three assumptions  are generalizations and do not apply to all individuals; neither do they apply to any specific individual.

2)   Although the Jewish and Moslem faiths share common elements with Christianity, the phrase  "Christian One-Life-ism" refers primarily to the multiple variations of Christianity.

3)   Atheism is defined as “A person who believes there is no God - that life on Earth is a coincidence.”   The atheism category has two distinct factions.   One faction can be referred to as humanitarian atheists.  These people are often very caring, generous, loving, and wonderful people with strong humanitarian interests.   The other pole of atheism can be referred to as the ego-atheists.   Ego-atheists often show themselves to be egocentric worshipers of money, power, ego, and/or fame.

See the the Major Religious Distinctions Chart for the distinction among the various religious beliefs.

How to Know Which Religion a Person Really Believes In

Simply watch their behavior.  "By their fruits shall ye know them."  "What they do speaks so loudly I cannot hear what they say."   Notice the company they keep.

According the research statistics, seventy percent of the American population believes in some form of Christianity.   Why, then, do you suppose so many people practice ego-atheism?   Do as I say and not as I do discloses a person's real religion.

Who but an ego-atheist would condemn future generations to a world polluted with nuclear contaminants with a half life of 50,000 years?   Who but an ego-atheist would destroy forever the last three-percent of our virgin redwood forests?   None but the criminally insane would fly an airplane into a building murdering 3,000 people simply because they believed in a different religion?   Who but an-ego-atheist would sell death-dealing cigarettes to the unsuspecting public?

If you observe human behavior, ego-atheism is the real dominant religion, not only here in America, but in the rest of the world as well.   Perhaps the presently-dominant belief system of the world have some critically-important pieces missing.   Examine the Major Religious Distinctions Chart.   You may be surprised at what you notice

Which of the Three, Basic,
Religious Assumptions is the Correct  One

Although the scientific evidence points very strongly in the direction of reincarnation, nobody can say with absolute, provable certainty which belief system express reality and which express illusions.   As for which assumption to follow, you’ll have to answer that question for yourself.   The best suggestion we have heard so far is that you maintain, honor and practice your present religious philosophy, and, at the same time, hold each of the three assumptions as an untested hypothesis.   Bring your mind into your religion.   Test each of the three possibilities against the circumstantial evidence of life and let the evidence speak for itself.  Adjust your beliefs and your daily activities to match what the evidence tells you.

Notice to which assumption the evidence most frequently points.   Look with an open mind and with the intention of finding your own answer.   You will soon come to conclusions that are appropriate for you.   And regardless of where you see the evidence pointing, you're still free to believe whatever you choose to believe.

The latest scientific evidence is pointing, overwhelmingly to the conclusion that human beings are not their physical bodies, that physical-Earth-life is only a small piece of reality.   The evidence is strongly pointing to the conclusion that reality is reincarnation, without the religious trapping of the Eastern religions.   Readers are directed to the section titled: Universal Spirituality.   Again we say, "Don't simply follow what you learned as a little child.   Let the evidence be your guide."

But What If You're Wrong

When deciding which of the three assumptions to use as a guide for your everyday behavior, it’s always advisable to consider the consequences of your actions and how you will correct a mistake if your choice turns out to be off the mark.   You’d be wise to live your life in a manner where, as much as possible, your errors are correctable.   For example, if you live an exemplary life and atheism turns out to be the correct assumption, your error is all but meaningless.   You’ve lost little or nothing.   However, if you’re a perpetual bad-ass and Christian one-life-ism turns out to be the truth, you’ll spend eternity burning in hell.   That’s a heavy-duty, non-correctable error.   And if Reincarnation is the correct hypotheses, you'll get the opportunity to, as the saying goes, "Do it right or do it over."    We direct you now to the Major Religious Distinctions Chart.
